# IP Whitelisting

Learn how to configure IP whitelisting for Rapidproxy dynamic residential proxies, including adding your current IP with one click from the dashboard.

This guide explains how to configure **IP whitelisting** for Dynamic (Rotating) Residential Proxies in Rapidproxy.\
IP whitelisting allows you to authenticate proxy access by approving specific IP addresses instead of using username and password authentication.

***

### What Is IP Whitelisting?

IP whitelisting is an authentication method that allows only approved IP addresses to access your proxy resources.

When IP whitelisting is enabled:

* Requests coming **from whitelisted IPs** are allowed
* Requests from **non-whitelisted IPs** are rejected
* No username or password is required for authentication

This method is commonly used for **servers, cloud instances, and API-based integrations** with fixed outbound IPs.

***

### How to Configure IP Whitelisting

Follow the steps below to add your IP address to the whitelist.

#### Step 1: Log in to the User Center

1. [Log in to your Rapidproxy account](#how-to-configure-ip-whitelisting).

### 8. Tips for Using Proxies in Code

#### Protocol Support

* HTTP and HTTPS are both supported
* SOCKS5 can be used if your client supports the protocol

#### Sticky Sessions (Dynamic Proxies)

If you configured a **sticky session** when generating proxy credentials:

* Each request within the session will use the **same IP**
* Useful for login, form submission, and session-based automation

#### IP Whitelist

If using IP whitelisting:

* Confirm the source IP of your application or server is added to the whitelist
* Requests from non-whitelisted IPs will be blocked

***

### 9. Troubleshooting

If your code receives proxy errors:

* Double-check proxy host/port values
* Ensure credentials are correct (for username/password authentication)
* Verify your IP is whitelisted (if applicable)
* Check that your tool/client supports the proxy protocol you are using

If issues persist, contact support:

* **Online live chat on the Rapidproxy website**
* **Email:** `support@rapidproxy.io`

***

### 10. Security Notes

* Never share credentials publicly
* Store proxy usernames & passwords in secure configuration or environment variables
* Rotate credentials if compromised

# Video Guide

# Slow Proxy Speed

# Experiencing Slow Proxy Speed

Experiencing slow proxy speed? Learn common causes of slow Rapidproxy connections and practical steps to diagnose, optimize proxy settings, and improve performance.

If you notice slow connection speeds when using Rapidproxy proxies (dynamic or static), this guide helps you identify common causes and how to improve performance.

Slow speeds can occur due to various factors — some related to network conditions, and others related to configuration or target site limitations. Follow the steps below to diagnose and improve your proxy speed.

***

### 1. Check Your Local Network

Before anything else, verify that your **local network connection** is stable and performing well:

* Test your connection speed without a proxy (e.g., directly visit a speed test site).
* Ensure no heavy downloads or uploads are running on your network.
* Try switching from Wi-Fi to a wired connection, if possible.

If your base connection is slow, proxy speeds may also appear slow.

***

### 2. Verify Your Proxy Settings

#### Protocol

* Ensure you’re using the appropriate protocol (`HTTP`, `HTTPS`, or `SOCKS5`) supported by your application.
* Some tools or libraries treat HTTPS differently, causing performance differences.

#### Authentication Method

* For **username/password** authentication, confirm credentials are correctly configured.
* For **IP whitelisting**, verify that the source IP is correctly added to the whitelist. Incorrect authentication can cause slow timeouts.

***

### 3. Test a Different Server or Location

Proxy speed can vary by location or proxy node:

1. Try switching to a different **server region** or **country** in your proxy configuration.
2. Some geographic locations may have better routing or lower latency depending on your target site.

Switching to another proxy endpoint often helps improve speed if a particular region is congested or slower.

***

### 4. Target Site Limitations

Sometimes slow speeds aren’t caused by the proxy, but by the **target website or service**:

* Target sites may enforce rate limits or throttling.
* Some sites block or delay responses for proxy traffic.

Test direct access to the same site without a proxy. If direct access is also slow, likely the target site, not the proxy, is the bottleneck.

***

### 5. Application or Tool Limits

Your application or client library may also impact performance:

* Some scraping libraries queue requests internally or use synchronous requests that limit throughput.
* Increase concurrent threads or connections if your tool supports it.
* The choice of client (e.g., Requests vs. Async libraries in Python) can impact speed.

Testing with alternate tools (for example, a simple cURL request) can help isolate whether the issue is from your client.

***

### 6. Insufficient Traffic or Overloaded Plan

If you are on a traffic-capped plan:

* Confirm whether you’ve reached traffic limits on your sub-account.
* Low available traffic remaining may deprioritize connections.

Top up or adjust your plan if traffic limits are affecting performance.

***

### 7. Test With Direct Proxy Diagnostics

You can run a quick **latency test** using tools like `ping` or `traceroute` to the proxy endpoint:

```
ping YOUR_PROXY_HOST
traceroute YOUR_PROXY_HOST
```

This can help reveal if there are network hops or delays between your location and the proxy server.

***

### 8. Contact Support

If you’ve tried the above steps and still experience slow speeds, Rapidproxy support can assist:

* Chat with the support team via the **online chat** on the Rapidproxy website
* Email **<support@rapidproxy.io>**

When contacting support, include:

* The proxy host and port you are using

# IP Location Mismatched

# Incorrect IP Location

Seeing an incorrect IP location? Learn why residential proxy IP locations may not match expected regions and how to troubleshoot IP location mismatches in Rapidproxy.

If you are using Rapidproxy proxies and notice that the **IP location does not match** your selected country or region, this guide will help explain why this might occur and how to resolve or mitigate it.

IP location mismatch simply means the **actual geographic location of the IP address** is different from what you expected based on your configuration.

***

### Why IP Location May Seem Incorrect

There are several reasons why the visible IP location may not match your selected location:

#### 1. GeoIP Database Variations

Third-party GeoIP lookup services and databases (such as MaxMind, IP2Location, etc.) do not always have perfectly up-to-date or accurate location data for real residential IPs.

Even if a proxy IP was selected from the correct country, some lookup services may report a different city or region due to outdated database records.

This is common with **real residential IPs**, as they move between ISPs, subnets, or households over time.

***

#### 2. ISP Routing & Traffic Paths

Some Internet Service Providers (ISPs) route traffic through gateways or exit nodes in nearby countries.\
This means:

* The connection may originate from one country
* The ISP routes traffic via another country’s gateway
* GeoIP services see the exit node location instead of the origin country

In these cases, the IP still functions for your proxy requests, but the reported location may differ from the selected target.

***

### How to Confirm the Actual Location

To verify the true location of a proxy IP you retrieved:

1. Run a GeoIP lookup on services like:
   * <https://ipinfo.io>
   * <https://whatismyipaddress.com/ip-lookup>
   * <https://geoiptool.com>
2. Compare the result with the location you expected.

Keep in mind that third-party lookups may be approximate; they may not always reflect ISP or carrier assignments accurately.

***

### What You Can Do

#### 1. Avoid City-Level Selection (if not necessary)

If your use case doesn’t require strict city-level residency:

* Select only the **country level**
* Let the system assign the best available IP in that country

This improves availability and reduces mismatches.

***

#### 2. Try Another Region or ISP

If the location reported is consistently incorrect:

* Try choosing a **different country or region**
* Check if the proxy provider has a better pool in the target region

Different ISP pools may yield more accurate geolocation results.

***

#### 3. Understand Real-World Location Limitations

Real residential IPs come from actual user connections and may:

* Change location when reassigned by ISP
* Be reported differently by various lookup databases

This is a normal limitation of real residential proxy systems and is not unique to Rapidproxy.

***

### When This Might Matter

Incorrect location reporting may affect:

* Geo-targeted scraping requirements
* Ad verification where precise location reporting is required
* Location-based testing that relies on strict country boundaries

For tasks that absolutely require a specific IP location, consider discussing custom solutions with support.

***

### Contact Support

If proxy location mismatches are affecting your use case:

* Use the **online live chat** on the Rapidproxy website
* Email **<support@rapidproxy.io>**

Provide details including:

* The proxy IP being used
* The location you expected
* The GeoIP service you checked with

Support can help verify whether the IP falls within the intended region or suggest alternatives.

***

### Summary

| Issue                                      | Explanation                                                           |
| ------------------------------------------ | --------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| GeoIP database may show wrong location | IP location lookups depend on external databases that may be outdated |
| ISP routing affects reported exit location | Some paths route through neighboring countries or regions |

# Proxy Connection Problems

# No Connection on Dynamic IPs

Unable to connect using dynamic residential proxies? Learn common reasons for no connection issues and how to troubleshoot authentication, proxy settings, and network problems in Rapidproxy.

If you are experiencing connection failures or inability to connect when using **dynamic (rotating) residential proxies**, this troubleshooting guide will help you identify common causes and how to fix them.

Dynamic residential proxies can fail to connect for a number of reasons, including authentication issues, network configuration, or proxy settings.

***

### 1. Verify Authentication Method

#### **Username & Password Authentication**

If you are using a **username and password** to authenticate:

* Double-check that you copied the **correct username and password**
* Ensure there are **no hidden spaces** or typographical errors
* Verify credentials were generated for the correct sub-account

**Common mistake:**

Copying credentials for a different sub-account will cause a connection error.

***

#### **IP Whitelisting Authentication**

If you are using **IP Whitelist** (no credentials required):

* Make sure the **outbound IP of your client/server** is added to the whitelist\
  (UCenter → Proxies → Rotating Residential Proxies → Use Proxy → [WhiteList](https://docs.rapidproxy.io/proxies/dynamic-residential-proxy/get-proxy/api/ip-whitelisting))

<figure><img src="/files/ZgVtimV08F8Nrzt8EU6H" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

* If your IP changes (for example on dynamic home networks), re-add the new IP

Requests from an unwhitelisted IP will be blocked, resulting in no proxy connection.

***

### 2. Check Proxy Endpoint and Port

Ensure that the proxy host and port are correct:

* Proxy Host / IP should match what you see in the **Use Proxy** section
* Port should match the protocol you selected (HTTP, HTTPS, or SOCKS5)

Incorrect host or port will cause connection failures.

***

### 3. Test Connection From a Simple Tool

Try a simple test using a tool such as `curl` to isolate environment issues:

```
curl -x http://YOUR_PROXY_HOST:YOUR_PORT https://example.com
```

If this returns no response or times out, the issue may be with:

* Network connectivity
* Firewall blocking
* Proxy authentication failure

***

### 4. Confirm Traffic Cap (Sub-Accounts)

If you are using sub-accounts:

* Confirm that the **traffic cap (GB)** has not been reached
* A sub-account with zero remaining traffic may not establish a connection

Check the current usage and available traffic from the sub-account list.

***

### 5. Verify Local Network and Firewall

Sometimes local network configuration can block proxy connections:

* Make sure your network allows outbound connections to the proxy host and port
* Check your firewall, antivirus, or corporate network policies
* If you are behind a restrictive network (office, school, etc.), try a different network

***

### 6. Check for Target Site Blocking

Some websites actively block known proxy IPs:

* Try accessing a different site or service to confirm if the issue is site-specific
* If only one target is failing, the proxy may be blocked by that specific site

***

### 7. Protocol Compatibility

Make sure the proxy protocol matches your client configuration:

* **HTTP / HTTPS** — used by most HTTP clients
* **SOCKS5** — needed by some tools and certain automation libraries

A protocol mismatch can result in no connection.

***

### 8. Try a Different Region or Server

Proxy connection success can vary by region or server:

* Switch to a different **country** or **proxy server location**
* Some regions may have temporary routing or performance issues

This can help isolate whether the issue is regional.

***

### 9. Debug With Logs

If your application supports logging:

* Enable detailed network logs
* Look for connection timeouts, refusals, or authentication errors

Logs can reveal whether the issue is DNS, timeout, or credential related.

***

### 10. Contact Support

If you’ve tried the steps above and still have no connection:

Please contact Rapidproxy support:

* **Online live chat** on the Rapidproxy website
* Email **<support@rapidproxy.io>**

When contacting support include:

* Proxy host and port
* Authentication method (username/password or IP whitelist)
* Client environment (OS, tool, library)
* Any error messages or log output

Support can help diagnose configuration or network issues.

***

### Quick Troubleshooting Checklist

| Issue          | What to Check                                 |
| -------------- | --------------------------------------------- |
| No connection  | Credentials, whitelist, proxy host/port       |
| Authentication | Username/password, IP whitelist               |
| Local block | Firewall, antivirus, corporate network |
| Target site | Site blocking or specific restrictions |
| Protocol       | Correct protocol selected (HTTP/HTTPS/SOCKS5) |
| Traffic cap    | Sub-account quota reached                     |

# No Connection on Static IPs

Cannot connect to static residential proxies? Learn how to troubleshoot static IP connection issues in Rapidproxy, including authentication, IP assignment, subscription status, and network configurati

If you are unable to connect when using **Static Residential Proxy IPs** in Rapidproxy, this guide will help you identify common causes and resolve connection issues.

Static residential proxies use **fixed, non-rotating IP addresses** and support **username and password authentication only**.

***

### 1. Verify Username & Password Authentication

Static residential proxies in Rapidproxy **do not support IP whitelisting**.\
All connections must use **username and password authentication**.

Please verify:

* The **username and password** are entered correctly
* No extra spaces were added when copying credentials
* The credentials belong to the correct account or sub-account

Incorrect credentials are the most common reason for connection failures.

***

### 2. Check Static IP Assignment

To review your static IP allocation, navigate to:

```
Proxies → Static Residential Proxies → IP Management
```

<figure><img src="/files/iC21bb7RCUnjDIJTAfwi" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

> ⚠️ Note:\
> Static IPs **cannot be enabled or disabled manually**.\
> If an IP is assigned and your subscription is active, it is available for use.

If you do not see any IPs listed, ensure that:

* You have purchased a static residential proxy plan
* The subscription has not expired

***

### 3. Confirm Proxy Host, Port, and Protocol

Make sure your proxy configuration matches the values provided in the dashboard:

* **Proxy Host:** Your assigned static IP address
* **Port:** The correct port number
* **Protocol:** HTTP, HTTPS, or SOCKS5

Using an incorrect protocol or port will result in connection errors.

***

### 4. Test the Connection with a Simple Command

You can quickly verify connectivity using `curl`:

```
curl -x http://USERNAME:PASSWORD@STATIC_IP:PORT https://example.com
```

If the request fails, the issue is likely related to credentials, subscription status, or network restrictions.

***

### 5. Check Local Network and Firewall Restrictions

Local environment restrictions may block proxy connections:

* Ensure outbound connections to the proxy **IP and port** are allowed
* Check firewall, antivirus, or security software rules
* If possible, test from a different network to rule out local blocking

Corporate or restricted networks often limit proxy traffic.

***

### 6. Verify Subscription Status

Static residential proxies require an active subscription:

* Confirm your plan is **active**
* Renew the subscription if it has expired
* Ensure the static IP is still listed under **IP Management**

Expired subscriptions will prevent proxy connections.

***

### 7. Target Website Accessibility

Before assuming a proxy issue:

* Test the target website **without using a proxy**
* If the site is unavailable directly, the issue may be unrelated to the proxy

Some websites may also block traffic from certain IPs.

***

### 8. DNS and Routing Issues

If connections are slow or unstable:

* Try switching to a public DNS server (e.g., `8.8.8.8` or `1.1.1.1`)
* Run a traceroute to identify routing issues

Network routing problems can affect connectivity even with correct credentials.

***

### 9. Contact Support

If the issue persists, contact Rapidproxy support:

* **Online live chat** on the Rapidproxy website
* **Email:** `support@rapidproxy.io`

Please include:

* Static IP and port
* Username used for authentication
* Client tool or environment
* Error messages or logs (if available)

No additional verification is required to access the dashboard after registration.\
However, **free trial traffic is not enabled by default** and must be activated manually by contacting support.

***

#### 2. Why don’t I see free trial traffic after signing up?

Free trial traffic is available **upon request only**.

To activate it:

* Contact the **online live chat** on the Rapidproxy website, or
* Email **<support@rapidproxy.io>**

Please include your registered email address when requesting activation.

***

#### 3. I forgot my password. How can I reset it?

You can reset your password via the [**Forgot Password**](https://docs.rapidproxy.io/proxies/getting-started/forgot-account-password) page:

1. Go to the Rapidproxy login page
2. Click **“Forgot your password?”**
3. Enter your registered email
4. Complete password reset using the verification code sent to your email

***

### 🔹 Proxy Authentication & Usage

#### 4. What authentication methods does Rapidproxy support?

Rapidproxy supports different authentication methods depending on proxy type:

* **Dynamic (Rotating) Residential Proxies**
  * Username & password
  * IP whitelisting
* **Static Residential Proxies**
  * Username & password

***

#### 5. Why am I getting authentication errors?

Common causes include:

* Incorrect username or password (copy/paste errors)
* Using credentials from the wrong sub-account
* Using expired or deleted credentials
* Using the wrong protocol or port

Always ensure credentials match the proxy type and configuration shown in the dashboard.

***

### 🔹 Proxy Connection Issues

#### 6. Why can’t I connect to dynamic residential proxies?

Possible reasons include:

* IP not added to whitelist (if using IP authentication)
* Incorrect proxy host or port
* Sub-account traffic limit reached
* Local firewall or network restrictions
* Target website blocking proxy traffic

Refer to **No Connection on Dynamic IPs** for step-by-step troubleshooting.

***

#### 7. Why can’t I connect to static residential proxies?

Static proxy connection issues are usually caused by:

* Incorrect username/password
* Expired static IP subscription
* Using wrong protocol or port
* Local firewall or restricted network

Static IPs are managed under:

```
Proxies → Static Residential Proxies → IP Management
```

Note: Static IPs cannot be enabled or disabled manually.

***

### 🔹 Speed & Performance

#### 8. Why is my proxy speed slower than expected?

Proxy speed may be affected by:

* Physical distance between you and the proxy location
* Target website rate limits or throttling
* Network latency or unstable local connection
* Frequent IP rotation without sticky sessions

Try switching regions, enabling sticky sessions (dynamic proxies), or testing from another network.

***

#### 9. Does Rapidproxy guarantee a specific speed?

No fixed speed is guaranteed.

Proxy performance depends on:

* Location
* ISP routing
* Target website behavior
* Network conditions

Residential proxies prioritize **authenticity and stability**, not raw bandwidth.

***

### 🔹 IP Location & Accuracy

#### 10. Why does my IP location not match what I selected?

IP location mismatch can happen due to:

* GeoIP database inaccuracies
* ISP routing through nearby regions

This is a known limitation of real residential IPs and is common across all providers.

***

### 🔹 Traffic, Plans & Billing

#### 11. Why is my traffic being consumed faster than expected?

Traffic usage increases based on:

* Total request size (headers + response body)
* HTTPS encryption overhead
* Retried or failed requests
* Concurrent connections

Monitor usage at the sub-account level and optimize request frequency where possible.

***

#### 12. What happens when my traffic runs out?

* Dynamic proxy requests will stop working
* Static IP connections may fail if the subscription expires

You can upgrade or renew your plan directly from the dashboard.

***

#### 13. Can I export my proxy IPs?

Yes.

For static residential proxies:

```
Proxies → Static Residential Proxies → IP Management
```

You can export IP information for use in third-party tools.

***

### 🔹 API & Automation

#### 14. Why does the API request fail?

Common API issues include:

* IP not added to whitelist (for IP-authenticated API access)
* Incorrect API endpoint or parameters
* Invalid sub-account credentials
* Incorrect data format or delimiter

Double-check settings under:

```
Proxies → Rotating Residential Proxies → Use Proxy → API Method
```

***

### 🔹 Security & Best Practices

#### 15. Is it safe to share proxy credentials?

No.

* Do not share credentials publicly
* Store them securely (environment variables, secrets manager)
* Rotate credentials if compromised

***

#### 16. Can I use Rapidproxy for automation or scraping?

Yes, provided usage complies with:

* Rapidproxy Terms of Service
* Applicable laws and regulations
* Target website terms

Rapidproxy does not control or endorse how target websites handle traffic.

***

# Commission Problems

# Untracked Commission

Learn why affiliate commissions may not be tracked and how to troubleshoot untracked referral issues in the Rapidproxy Affiliate Program, including cookies, referral links, and attribution timing.

This page explains why an affiliate commission may not have been recorded and how to troubleshoot issues related to **untracked or missing commissions** in the Rapidproxy Affiliate Program.

Affiliate commissions may fail to track for a variety of reasons, including cookie/session expiration, incorrect link usage, browser restrictions, or referral attribution timing.

***

### How Affiliate Tracking Works

Before understanding tracking issues, it helps to know the basic flow:

1. A visitor clicks your **affiliate referral link**
2. A tracking cookie is stored in the visitor’s browser
3. The visitor completes a purchase within the valid tracking window
4. The system attributes the purchase to your affiliate ID
5. A commission is recorded and displayed in your affiliate dashboard

If any step in this process fails, the commission may not be tracked.

***

### Common Causes of Untracked Commissions

#### 1. Referral Link Not Used

If the customer did not access your affiliate link before purchasing, the sale cannot be attributed to your affiliate account.

**Make sure you share**:

* The correct affiliate referral link
* Or use the correct Referral Code

***

#### 2. Cookie or Tracking Expiry

Tracking depends on cookies and session data stored in the user’s browser:

* If the visitor clears cookies before checkout
* If the visitor opens the link in a private/incognito session
* If the tracking cookie duration expires before purchase

Then tracking can fail.

**Tip:** Encourage referrals to complete purchases soon after clicking your link.

***

#### 3. Multiple Tabs or Redirects

Commission tracking can fail if:

* The link is opened and then immediately redirected in a way that clears referral parameters
* The user opens the purchase page in a different tab after clicking the link

To prevent this:

* Ask referrals to complete checkout in the same browser tab
* Avoid using link shorteners that strip parameters

***

#### 4. VPNs or Proxy Interference

Some VPNs or proxy services can remove or block tracking cookies or URL parameters.

If a referred customer uses privacy tools that block cookies or remove referral parameters, tracking may be lost.

***

#### 5. Browser Tracking Restrictions

Modern browsers and privacy extensions may limit third-party cookies or tracking mechanisms.

Examples include:

* Strict third-party cookie settings
* Tracking-blocking browser plugins
* “Do Not Track” privacy modes

Ask referred users to allow cookies for the Rapidproxy site during checkout.

***

### How to Check If a Commission Should Have Been Tracked

1. Log in to your **Affiliate Dashboard**
2. Go to **Clicks / Referrals / Commissions** section
3. Check whether:
   * Your referral link was clicked
   * A referral session was created

If no click was recorded, the sale cannot be attributed.

***

### What to Do If a Commission Did Not Track

If you believe a commission was incorrectly missed:

1. **Collect Details**
   * Customer email or purchase email (with their permission)
   * Approximate purchase date and time
   * Referral link used
   * Screenshot / tracking info if available
2. **Contact Affiliate Support**
   * Reach out via the support contact listed in your affiliate dashboard, or
   * Email **<support@rapidproxy.io>** with the details above
   * Provide as much information as possible to help verify the referral

Support can manually verify the tracking logs and adjust your commission if appropriate.

***

### Valid Scenarios Where Tracking Won’t Occur

Tracking may legitimately not occur in these cases:

* The referral cleared cookies before checkout
* The purchase was made outside the valid tracking window
* The user clicked another referrer’s link later
* The customer purchased via a link without an affiliate ID

These are standard behaviors across affiliate tracking systems.

***

### Tips to Maximize Tracking Success

To improve the likelihood that your referrals are tracked:

* Use **clear, clickable links** with your affiliate ID
* Encourage referrals to **complete purchases promptly**
* Avoid link shorteners that might strip referral tags
* Advise users not to use private browsing during checkout
* Use link previews or custom landing pages with your affiliate link

***

### Frequently Asked Questions

#### Will I get a commission if someone buys later?

Commission tracking depends on the **tracking window** established by Rapidproxy Affiliate Program. Purchases outside that window may not be tracked.

(Check your affiliate dashboard for specific time window details.)

***

#### Can I track commissions for previous referrals?

Commission tracking is not retroactive. If the original click was not recorded, the referral cannot be assigned retrospectively.

However, support may be able to help if there is evidence of a valid referral.

***

### Need Help?

If your affiliate referral still isn’t tracked and you have questions:

* Contact Rapidproxy affiliate support via the dashboard
* Email **<support@rapidproxy.io>** with:
  * Referral link
  * Customer email (with permission)
  * Purchase transaction details

Support can verify tracking logs and assist with commission questions.
