Learn why affiliate commissions may not be tracked and how to troubleshoot untracked referral issues in the Rapidproxy Affiliate Program, including cookies, referral links, and attribution timing.
This page explains why an affiliate commission may not have been recorded and how to troubleshoot issues related to untracked or missing commissions in the Rapidproxy Affiliate Program.
Affiliate commissions may fail to track for a variety of reasons, including cookie/session expiration, incorrect link usage, browser restrictions, or referral attribution timing.
How Affiliate Tracking Works
Before understanding tracking issues, it helps to know the basic flow:
A visitor clicks your affiliate referral link
A tracking cookie is stored in the visitor’s browser
The visitor completes a purchase within the valid tracking window
The system attributes the purchase to your affiliate ID
A commission is recorded and displayed in your affiliate dashboard
If any step in this process fails, the commission may not be tracked.
Common Causes of Untracked Commissions
1. Referral Link Not Used
If the customer did not access your affiliate link before purchasing, the sale cannot be attributed to your affiliate account.
Make sure you share:
The correct affiliate referral link
Or use the correct Referral Code
2. Cookie or Tracking Expiry
Tracking depends on cookies and session data stored in the user’s browser:
If the visitor clears cookies before checkout
If the visitor opens the link in a private/incognito session
If the tracking cookie duration expires before purchase
Then tracking can fail.
Tip: Encourage referrals to complete purchases soon after clicking your link.
3. Multiple Tabs or Redirects
Commission tracking can fail if:
The link is opened and then immediately redirected in a way that clears referral parameters
The user opens the purchase page in a different tab after clicking the link
To prevent this:
Ask referrals to complete checkout in the same browser tab
Avoid using link shorteners that strip parameters
4. VPNs or Proxy Interference
Some VPNs or proxy services can remove or block tracking cookies or URL parameters.
If a referred customer uses privacy tools that block cookies or remove referral parameters, tracking may be lost.
5. Browser Tracking Restrictions
Modern browsers and privacy extensions may limit third-party cookies or tracking mechanisms.
Examples include:
Strict third-party cookie settings
Tracking-blocking browser plugins
“Do Not Track” privacy modes
Ask referred users to allow cookies for the Rapidproxy site during checkout.
How to Check If a Commission Should Have Been Tracked
Log in to your Affiliate Dashboard
Go to Clicks / Referrals / Commissions section
Check whether:
Your referral link was clicked
A referral session was created
If no click was recorded, the sale cannot be attributed.
What to Do If a Commission Did Not Track
If you believe a commission was incorrectly missed:
Collect Details
Customer email or purchase email (with their permission)
Approximate purchase date and time
Referral link used
Screenshot / tracking info if available
